Black Tea
Loose Leaf

A seasonal blend of rolled orthodox Chinese tea, citrus and festive spice. We select large black Congou tea leaves for their smooth, mellow taste and gently blend then with orange and lemon peel, cinnamon pieces and decorative safflower petals, for a deeply-flavoured winter warmer.

This tea is all about the tastes and aromas of Christmas – a deliciously seasonal blend to sip beside a roaring log fire, warming you up while the snow falls outside.
We were inspired by the evocative flavours that traditionally herald the festive season – the deep, sweet, rich spiced flavours we love in mulled wine, mince pies, lebkuchen biscuits and Christmas pudding. And in Christingles, too, the oranges spiked with cloves that perfume our homes with wintry citrus scents.
We mingle lemon oil, orange oil and cinnamon oil with lemon and orange peel, cinnamon bark and safflowers, to create an oh-so-Christmassy Taylors house blend.
We pair those festive flavours with a tea that’s a simply perfect match. It’s a Chinese black tea from the Hunan province in central China, which gives a soft, rounded, balanced canvas that shows the spices off at their best.
Loose leaf tea adds an extra sense of occasion. Using “orthodox” tea leaves – a larger leaf than those typically used in tea bags – means a slightly lighter flavour which some consider more refined. They’re ideally brewed in a teapot, which gives them lots of room to move around and benefit from lots of surface contact with the water, and adds a certain something to the ritual of tea-making during the festive season.
